Mechanical Cain and ED-209 design prints from Irvin Kershner’s futuristic sci-fi film Robocop 2. Various concepts were drafted by artists at Tippett Studio when designing the film’s robot creatures. Phil Tippett is credited as an Associate Producer and for animation sequences on this title.

This is a set of twenty-two pages of printed blueprint sheets and seven pages with printed images exhibiting an ED-209 miniature at various angles and two full-body images of Cain. The concepts are drawn by Craig Davies, credited in the film as the ‘effects art director: robot monster crew’ and refer to Cain as ‘Kong.’ The blueprint pages outline details and functions of various body parts on the Cain and ED-209 models. The printed Cain images are adhered together in sections on a larger sheet of paper.

The pages show discoloration due to age and portions are crinkled and slight torn but the lot remains in overall good condition. Dimensions (large blueprints): 17” x 11” (43 cm x 28 cm); dimensions (small blueprints): 11” x 8 ½” (28 cm x 22 cm); dimensions (Cain image): 16 ½” x 13 ½” (42 cm x 34 cm)
