Hand-drawn and printed ED-209 storyboards by Giacomo Ghiazza from Paul Verhoeven’s futuristic sequel Robocop 2. Phil Tippett created the animation sequences for the film.

This lot contains three pages of hand-drawn storyboards, a large storyboard print and an animation timing sheet. Timing sheets are used by stop-motion animation departments to plan and track movement when animating shots frame by frame. Each hand-drawn storyboard is presented taped to an element breakdown sheet. Two storyboards include three panels while the third only shows one. They are marked ‘HRL’, ‘EXRL 1’ and “TV1”. One is marked as having a ‘plate’ element. The large storyboard print features ED-209 and is labeled as “HW 15”. The included timing sheet features a frame by frame breakdown of “HW-9” a production code for the ninth shot in the “HW” sequence. The sheet includes handwritten pencil details on the timing of gun flashes, foreground and background light, camera tilt and plate information.

The large storyboard print and timing sheet are both creased down the middle while the storyboards show some curling on the bottom and one shows a creased corner. Noting the aforementioned wear, the lot remains in overall good condition. Dimensions (largest storyboard): 18” x 8 ½” (45.75 cm x 21.5 cm); dimensions (storyboard print): 11” x 17” (28 cm x 43 cm); dimensions (X-sheet): 20” x 9” (51 cm x 23 cm)
