A full-size Cain puppet from Irvin Kershner’s futuristic sci-fi film Robocop 2. A one-to-one scale puppet for the sequence when Robocop ripped the cyborg monster’s brain out. Phil Tippett is credited as an Associate Producer and for animation sequences on this title.

This puppet was deliberately made from the waist-up for the film, for use in close-up shots where the character would interact with Robocop. The puppet is crafted with a series of fiberglass panels with a metal frame and components and is fixed atop a steel mount. The panels are textured and painted with high detail to appear metallic. Designed as a veritable “Swiss-Army Knife” of a creature, the piece boasts four arms, each with unique and articulate appendages. The left arm features two clawed arms along with a prop Gatling gun attached to one of the forearms. The right arm boasts a three-digit claw as well as a posable blow-torch extremity. The backside of the prop beast has an opening with a series of exposed prop wires to accommodate for the sequences action. Halogen lights are fixed to both shoulders but have been disconnected.

Another series of cables is bound beneath the chest door, which reacts lightly to pressure but remains untested for its operation. Paint on the puppet’s chest door screenmatches to a scene where Lois hands him the nuke and he keeps it in the chest compartment.

The piece shows signs of wear with various scuffs and slight cracks as well as the head remaining loosely placed atop the body but the puppet remains in overall good condition. Dimensions: 90” x 75” x 36”
