A Detroit Police Officer's Helmet from the Paul Verhoeven 1987 action film, Robocop. In this film, a police officer named Alex Murphy (Peter Weller) is transformed into the cybernetic crime fighter, Robocop, following his violent incapacitation. Now rebuilt as a cyborg, Robocop must combat the violent street gangs that terrorize the city, all while super corporation Omnicorp begins it's privatization of Detroit. Police helmets can be seen worn by officers throughout the film, but notably when Alex Murphy first arrives at the Detroit Precinct with his transfer papers.
The helmet is made from a blue plastic that has been spray painted black, and features an adjustable clear visor and chin strap. On the right side of the helmet is a clear plastic tube with a textured end tip, which resembles a microphone. On either side of the helmet are two plastic chips with the number 15. There is some minor wear on the helmet from production use and the plastic on the visors right side panel is loose from a screw that has broken through the plastic (see photos).
There is no sizing information available for this helmet, but it measures approximately 9" x 11" x 11.5" (23cm x 28cm x 29cm) and is in good production used condition.
