John Fitzgarld’s (Tom Hardy) stunt rifle from Alejandro Gonzalez Iñárritu’s 2015 Academy Award-winning film The Revenant. Stunt rifles were used throughout filming in scenes that required performers to move quickly or dangerously. Using lighter stunt rifles is a safer option on set when a heavy prop could cause inury. In the film, John Fitzgerald is seen hitting a Ree raider with the end of his rifle in a river.
Made from a dense urethane, this rifle is painted with detail to resemble wood and metal. Parts of the metal are accented with paint to appear as brass. The butt of the rifle shows some wear from production use as it is missing its covering and its foam core is exposed from the end. Showing other light signs of production use such as light scratches, this rifle is in overall good condition.
