A special effects post pod from the classic British sci-fi comedy Red Dwarf. Three million years after a radiation leak killed its crew, the mining ship Red Dwarf is now lost in space. On board a crew consisting of chicken soup machine repairman Dave Lister (Craig Charles), Rimmer (Chris Barrie), Cat (Danny John-Jules) and Kryten (Robert Llewellyn), waste time and go on adventures where no one has gone before.
This futuristic post box was used in the series two episode Better Than Life, when the ragtag crew receive their latest batch of mail from Earth, 3 Million Years after it was sent (about right for second class post...), and the shot reused in the series three episode The Last Day. It is made from resin shaped like a classic Royal Mail red post box and still has the fixing point for the pyrotechnic that was on the back and seen blasting off towards the ship. It comes presented on a custom built stand to make it look as though it is still drifting on through space.

This piece displays intentional distressing to make it look like it’s been trailing behind the ship for a colossal amount of years and remains in good condition. The display measures 30cm x 18cm (12“ x 7“) and 32cm (12.5“) tall and is a wonderful piece from the original cult TV series.
