Castor's (Ferdinando Poggi) costume from Don Chaffey's fantasy film Jason and the Argonauts. This lot comes from the archives of the Italian costume company Costumi d'Arte.

Castor wore his cuirass while fighting the children of the Hydra's teeth alongside Jason (Todd Armstrong), during which he was killed. The cuirass is made of grey and black leather and is in two parts, which attach together at the shoulders and waist. Attached to the bottom of the cuirass is black leather fringing studded with square metal details. The chest and back of the cuirass are also decorated with square metal details, and the breastplate with cut-out detailing in the leather. Atop the shoulders are two metal hooks, onto which a cape could be attached. An additional two hooks are fixed to the centre of the waistband, though the purpose of these is unclear. There is some slight cracking in the leather around the edges of the cuirass.

Additional Provenance: This lot comes from the archives of the famed Italian costume company Costumi d'Arte. The company has been supplying some of the biggest film productions in the world with costumes for over 100 years.
