A gold pendant in the shape of Argentina personally owned by Queen frontman Freddie Mercury. Freddie's love of the country is well-documented, especially in a photoshoot with the band and Argentinian football legend Diego Maradona. Freddie is wearing a #10 Argentina football shirt, and Maradona reciprocated by donning a Union Jack T-shirt. It's likely that Mercury acquired the pendant when Queen were on tour in Buenos Aires, where, in 1982, they played to a crowd of 300,000.

This lot originally came from the collection of Shaun Matthew, who was the house sitter at Freddie's estate in Kensington after his death. The stamped 18ct gold pendant exhibits some minor tarnishing and comes presented in a black leather ring box. Dimensions (pendant): 4 cm x 1.5 cm (1.5" x 0.5")
