This style of light was used in the science lab, in which David (Michael Fassbender) is examining an alien vial. It is during this point in the film that he removes the black secretion used to infect Dr Holloway (Logan Marshall-Green). This large set piece is made up of two metal poles which have been moulded to circulate the lights, this allows for the piece to be attached to the ceiling. They have been painted white and joined in order for the light to be moved closer or further away if necessary. The five lights attached have also been designed to be moved to different positions. The lights have been painted silver to give them a futuristic appearance. A control panel is attached, for which the crew members would have used to not only turn the lights on and off but to control the brightness. Similar medical lights have sold for upwards of £4500 showing the production spared no expense.
The handles have been removed from the light from use on subsequent productions, however in spite of this wear it remains in a good production-used condition. It measures approximately 100cm x 85cm x 20cm (39.5" x 33.5" x 7.75")
