A Prometheus Bridge Chair seen in Ridley Scott's 2012 sci-fi horror film, Prometheus. Serving as a prequel to his 1979 classic, Alien, the film follows the crew of the Prometheus as they travel to the distant moon, LV-223, in search of answers to the origins of life. Chairs of this style can be found during numerous scenes taking place on the Prometheus flight deck.
This futuristic looking chair features a frame constructed from fiberglass and resin and includes padded seat cushions that are green in color. Built into the seat is a harness-style seat belt made from grey nylon with metal clasps. Stitched into the nylon on one of the straps is a tag from Weyland Corporation, a nod to the fictional evil company Weyland-Yutani from the original film. The chair has been painted grey and has been decorated with numerous stickers and warning labels. Located at the base of the chair is a black pedal that, when depressed, allows the piece to pivot around the base. Under the base are several casters, allowing the chair to be rolled on a flat surface.
This remarkable piece features some wear due to production use, including scuffs to the paint and small breaks in the fiberglass (see photos) however it remains in overall very good condition.
