A Stunt exo-skeletal walking assistance frame for the character of Peter Weyland (Guy Pearce) used for Ridley Scott’s 2012 sci-fi adventure Prometheus. Led to a distant planet by ancient wall paintings, scientists Elizabeth Shaw (Noomi Rapace) and Charlie Holloway (Logan Marshall-Green) join a corporate-sponsored mission to discover the source of life on Earth. But in the ruins of an alien space craft, the human explorers soon find that all is not as it seems, and a great threat lurks in its deep holds.
This futuristic device is seen on the outside of Weyland’s spacesuit to help him move more easily during the expedition to the planet’s surface. This stunt version was likely used in the scene when David (Michael Fassbender) wakes up the Engineer who subsequently kills Peter Weyland and other members of the remaining crew. This brushed aluminium walking rig has a series of rubber leg straps and strong buckles to attach itself to the wearer. The rig is made of three separate parts which are linked by the large sliding plates on the backs of the legs, each part can be removed but the frame was designed for them all to work together. The sectional sliding points are jointed to allow free movement, they have ‘Auto-Lock’ written on them, however this is not a function of the item.
The top section of this beautifully crafted piece features a Weyland Corporation logo positioned in the wearer’s lower back. There are also four lights on the back which are all functioning and light up in blue, giving a very futuristic effect to the piece. The switch powering the longer vertical light is slightly temperamental, but can be adjusted in order to get the section to illuminate. The top section is intended to be joined to the back of a spacesuit and as such has four screw holes where these attachments would have been made.
This incredible piece has some distress to the paint finish due to use on set and some of the components on this item are broken or in a fragile state including both the leg supports and the right piston shaped piece. However, the item remains in good production-used condition.
As this item contains electronic components, every effort has been made to describe them accurately; however no guarantee or warranty is made as to functionality, lifespan or safety of those components. It is entirely incumbent on the new owner to satisfy themselves as to their safe use and maintenance.
