Meredith Vickers' (Charlize Theron) screen-matched flamethrower from Ridley Scott's Prometheus. Custom-built for the production, this once-functioning flamethrower was used in the pivotal sequence on the planet LV-223, where Vickers incinerated the infected Charlie Holloway (Logan Marshall-Green) at his request.
The scene mirrors Ellen Ripley's (Sigourney Weaver) iconic moment in Alien when she refused to let an infected crew member back on board, and even reused dialogue from the original film. Distinctive chipped paint and frame wear around the handle mounts of this flamethrower screen-match Vickers' onscreen weapon.
This flamethrower features an open metal frame housing two gas tanks, including a larger main tank bearing the Weyland Enterprises logo decal on each side. A plastic grip is mounted at the rear with bright orange dual triggers, and a second carrying handle includes a push-button control. A production-applied strip of adhesive on the main grip is hand-marked "Drip Decommissioned," indicating the flamethrower's retirement from active use. A metal plaque attached to the frame lists the makers and names the flamethrower "Barbara."
Multiple flamethrowers of this design were created for the film, with another example used by Janek (Idris Elba) to destroy the mutated Fifield (Sean Harris). This example, however, was clearly designated for close-up and performance use by Theron, and is believed to have been fully operational during filming, though it has since been safely deactivated. The flamethrower exhibits expected production wear, including scuffing, scratches, minor rust, and the aforementioned paint chipping consistent with production use. Dimensions: 37.5" x 8.75" x 15" (95 cm x 22 cm x 38 cm)
Estimate: $15,000 - 30,000
