Major Giles Flack’s (John Cleese) jungle fatigue jacket in Michael Blakemore’s 1982 war comedy Privates on Parade.
The Bible-bashing Major wore his jacket in various scenes throughout the movie. The khaki jacket (which appears beige on film due to the lights and editing) features various deep pockets and epaulettes, and although the badges and buttons have since been removed, the thread and holes used to affix them is still visible. A Bermans and Nathans costumers label inside reads ‘John Cleese “Privates on Parade”’. No size is labelled although it is estimated to be a ‘large’.
The jacket has some wear from production use and age, including loose threads and plucking, but overall it remains in excellent condition.
