Buttercup's (Robin Wright) dress from Rob Reiner's fairy-tale adventure The Princess Bride. Buttercup wore her red dress when she was kidnapped by Vizzini (Wallace Shawn), Inigo (Mandy Patinkin) and Fezzik (AndrÃ© the Giant), during her reunion with her true love Westley (Cary Elwes), and while traversing the deadly Fire Swamp, where she survived its three terrors - the flame spurts, lightning sand and R.O.U.S.es (Rodents of Unusual Size). This full-length dress is made from red cotton with a herringbone weave. Stitched eyelets are present on the back, which were laced up with ribbon in the film. The back also has several metal poppers to secure it. The dress features puffy sleeves that also lace up, and a petticoat, made of the same material and to the same length as the inner layer. The dress shows some wear from production use and age, with loose threads and plucked stitching, most notably on the inside, where some of the stitching has come away. There are small patches of dark staining and fraying at the bottom of the dress, and the ribbon for the back is missing.
