A Prototype Mr. Black Upper Body Armor Set from the Robert Rodriguez-produced 2011 sci-fi horror film, Predators. In the film, a group of human warriors are brought to an otherworldly planet where they are hunted by a vicious alien race known as Predators. Mr. Black, also known as Berserker, leads the hunt throughout the film. This is a set of various prototype pieces of Mr. Black’s upper body armor, which would have been created in the conceptual stage of his costume development, but were not ultimately used for the film.
This armor is made of dense rubber, sculpted into pieces of chest armor, including a breast plate that wraps around the left shoulder and covers the spine, a right shoulder piece, a small abdominal shield, and a left gauntlet. The body armor is painted a dark red and black and has a layer of fiberglass cloth lining the interior. The left shoulder is one piece that wraps around the chest and back. The left gauntlet has exposed electronics, with wires and batteries connected to a series of lights that would have lit up parts of the gauntlet. The electronics have not been tested and cannot be confirmed to be in working order. This set is a collection of various pieces that are not connected as they would have been in the film.
This armor set shows some minor wear due to age and storage, but it is in overall good condition.
