A signed 'competition-winning' wooden plank of wood used in the 1979 TV comedy remake of the classic 1967 film The Plank. When two hapless builders, (Eric Sykes and Arthur Lowe) realise that a floorboard is missing, they buy a replacement board and carry it through the streets. That's all. Should be simple. But no. With disastrous results!
This fantastic piece has been hand signed by many of this wonderfully famous cast, sadly most of whom are not with us today, yet have left behind a wonderful legacy of warmth and laughter. This amazing piece was a competition prize that appeared in the British newspaper “The Sun” back in 1980's.
Also interesting to note, many other famous actors and actresses that were due to appear in the show but were unable to due to bad weather, also kindly put 'pen to wood', making this a beautiful and highly detailed collectors item. Just some of these names include:
The late great Eric Sykes, Frankie Howerd, Dudley Moore, Peter Cook, Charles Hawtrey, Max Bygraves, Harry H. Corbett, Diana Dors, Wilfrid Hyde White, Bernard Cribbins, Arthur Lowe, Reg Varney, Kate o'Mara, Frank Windsor, Joanna Lumley, Brian Murphy, jeanette Charles, Lionel Blair, Henry Cooper, Charlie Drake, Jimmy Edwards, Liza Goddard, James Hunt, Kenny Lynch, Ann Sidney and Nicholas Bond Owen, to name but a few!! All names have been signed in black ink with the words “The Plank” stencilled on in bright red paint. A VHS video tape of the original film and both the congratulatory winning letter and newspaper clippings from the competition complete this fantastic collection! The plank measures 134cm x 22cm ( 52.75 x 8.66”).
