A cursed Aztec medallion necklace from Gore Verbinski's Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. Young Elizabeth Swann (Lucinda Dryzek) stole young Will Turner's (Dylan Smith) necklace, resulting years later in their both being hunted by Captain Hector Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush) and the crew of the Black Pearl to help release them from the ancient Aztec curse placed upon its gold medallion.

The all-important Treasure of Cortes gold medallions-the film's central MacGuffins and key features of its global marketing campaign-underwent five design iterations by legendary propmakers Keir Lusby Props in collaboration with production designer Brian Morris and art director Richard Earl. Upon the fifth's approval from Verbinski, two sizes of medallion were produced: full-scale versions for the necklaces worn or held by Turner, Swann, and later Barbossa, and oversized versions for effects inserts and close-ups. Around 100 full-scale medallions were produced using a combination of gilding brass, silver balls, and gold plating.

This ornate necklace features a gold-color medallion cast with a skull-and-sun motif on front and a geometric pattern on back based on a real-world Aztec finial. The necklace chain is made from bone-shaped brass links with a hook closure painted gold-color. The necklace is intentionally distressed by production to appear ancient. It exhibits tarnishing and discoloration from production. Dimensions: 17" x 1.5" x 0.25" (43.25 cm x 4 cm x 0.75 cm)
