"Curvaceous Naked" Original Stop Motion Puppet

Stock #33158

”Behind every captain, there’s a crew. Sure, some of you are as ugly as a sea cucumber, some of you are closer to being a chair or coat rack than a pirate, and some of you are fish I’ve just dressed up in a hat…”

A rare and original stop motion puppet from Aardman Animation’s 2012 adventure comedy The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists!

Pirate Captain (Hugh Grant) is determined to win the Pirate of the Year Award and defeat his rivals Black Bellamy (Jeremy Piven) and Cutlass Liz (Salma Hayek). His quest takes him and his crew from their home on Blood Island, to the streets of Victorian London.

The Surprisingly Curvaceous Pirate (Ashley Jensen) is a female pirate disguised as a man through the addition of a beard, leaving the rest of the crew none the wiser. This stop motion puppet was used in producing the scene in London where she tried to take a bath and Charles Darwin attempted to steal Pirate Captain’s pet dodo, Polly. All of the crew ended up in the bath which hurtled down the stairs and ended up in the street, leaving The Surprisingly Curvaceous Pirate outside without a towel.

Her skin, headscarf and luxuriant orange beard are made from silicone. Her hair is foam latex and she features a small amount of plasticine around her eyes allowing for maximum expression. Because we only see part of Curvaceous in these scenes, only her upper-body has been constructed for posing and animation via the intricate internal metal armature. She comes attached to a wooden base painted to look like the worn and warped decking of a pirate ship. Overall she is in excellent condition.

Materials: Silicone, Foam Latex, Wood, Ferrous Metals, Plasticine, Plastic.
