Hand-drawn creature design sketches and storyboards from Joe Dante’s horror comedy film Piranha. Phil Tippett is credited as the creature designer and animator on this title. Phil Tippett drafted various iterations of the piranha species which decorated the laboratory early in the film.

These seven pages feature hand-drawn sketches along with numerous pages of storyboard panels. The sketches represent an assortment of creatures with a piranha influence on them. Several of the pages feature Phil Tippett’s signature on them as well as the name ‘Berg,’ likely referring to Jon Berg, credited on the film as ‘special effects.’ The storyboards exhibit the lab sequence and have various scene and effect notes written upon them.

The pages show some wear with folds, minor tears and stains but the lot remains in good condition. Dimension (largest): 24” x 18” (61 cm x 46 cm); dimensions (smallest): 9” x 8” ( 23 cm x 20 cm)
