Original hand-painted and published full pages and strips by Bill Titcombe for the children's comic book series Pippin. This lot comes from the personal collection of renowned cartoon illustrator and author Peter Longden.
The first full-page work is page 51 from the 1985 Pippin annual, inscribed as such along its lower edge. Executed on an illustration board, the piece is accompanied by a now-loose plastic overlay, to which the dialogue and descriptive elements are affixed to complete the composition. The second full-page work is produced on an illustration board with a paper protective overlay. The specific issue for which this image was created is unknown.
The strips are rendered on paper and inscribed in blue ink along the left edge: "Pippin 1037 pg 9". They are also signed with black ink by Titcombe.
The boards and paper exhibit discolouration consistent with their age. Dimensions (page 51): 53 cm x 38 cm (20.75" x 15")

About the Artist:
Bill Titcombe was a British comics artist whose career spanned more than six decades, making him a familiar name in children's comics and magazines from the late 1950s onwards. He was widely known for his work on titles such as TV Comic and Look-In, producing artwork for popular characters including Dad's Army, The Telegoons, Tom and Jerry, Scooby-Doo, Bugs Bunny, and Inspector Gadget.
In addition to his extensive comic output, Titcombe collaborated on children's books and later developed a practice that included wildlife painting and gallery exhibitions. His work remains celebrated for its lively characterisation, versatility, and classic cartoon style.
