Anglo Amalgamated Film Distributors, 1960

This highly sought-after poster from Michael Powell's dramatic horror thriller boasts a compelling design. The linen-backed piece exhibited fold and crossfold wear, as well as a vertical tear through the word "Distributors" above the lower border. These issues have been meticulously restored with professional touch-up, and the borders were airbrushed. The poster now displays magnificently and would be a significant acquisition for any collector.

Director Michael Powell's film, set in London, features Carl Boehm as Mark Lewis, a disturbed young man who was turned into a monster by his own upbringing. He kills young women while filming their last moments of terror for his own enjoyment. Although the film was widely criticized upon its release, it has since become a cult classic and is regarded as an important exploration of various psychological themes. The film's portrayal of voyeurism, disfigurement, and sadomasochism was so shocking to critics and the public that it was banned in several countries and severely damaged Powell's legendary career.
