A stop motionhead used in the 2012 Chris Butler stop motion film, ParaNorman! This large piece was used in the dream sequence of Norman Babcock (voiced by Kodi Smit-McPhee) as he is chased through the streets of the town during a rehearsal for the school play, in which Neil (voiced by Tucker Albrizzi) plays the Hanging Tree. This particular piece features Neil’s face embedded in the tree, with part of the surrounding tree incorporated.
These film-used faces have been 3-D printed in resin, and finished by hand. The colouring of the face is applied during the printing process, enabling consistency between each of the thousands of replacement animation faces that were created for the production. The faces are attaches with magnets, to allow animators to quickly replace them to capture the desired expression. The interior of the faces also feature reference numbers that were used to keep track of the different faces during production.

Lightly used in filming, the piece displays some minor breakages at the top above the face, however it remains in an excellent production-used condition.
