A stop motion face used in the 2012 Chris Butler stop motion film, ParaNorman! This large piece was used in the dream sequence of Norman Babcock (voiced by Kodi Smit-McPhee) as he is chased through the streets of the town during a rehearsal for the school play, in which Neil (voiced by Tucker Albrizzi) plays the Hanging Tree. This particular piece features Neil’s face embedded in the tree.
This film-used face has been 3-D printed in resin, and finished by hand. The colouring of the face is applied during the printing process, enabling consistency between each of the thousands of replacement animation faces that were created for the production. The face is attached with magnets to allow animators to quickly replace it and to capture the desired expression. The interior of the face features reference numbers that were used to keep track of the different faces during production.

Lightly used in filming and carefully looked after, the piece remains in an excellent production-used condition and is presented on a custom display stand. The face measures 20cm x 11cm x 7cm (8" x 4.5" x 2.25") when displayed on its stand.
