Paranorman

Aggie Prenderghast (Jodelle Farland) Face B

Stock #73463

A stop motion face used in the Chris Butler stop motion film, ParaNorman! In the film, a misunderstood boy named Norman (voiced by Kodi Smit-McPhee) wages battle against monsters and grown-ups in order to save his town from an evil curse.

This face belongs to Aggie Prenderghast (voiced by Jodelle Ferland), an alleged witch whose curse haunts Blithe Hollow. However, soon Norman discovers that she was an innocent little girl accused of witchcraft because of her ability to speak to the dead. This face was used towards the end of the film as Norman interacts with Aggie in the spirit dimension, convincing her to stop her thirst for vengeance and reveal her true identity.

Presented on a stand, this original puppet face has been 3-D printed in resin, and finished by hand. The colouring of the face is applied during the printing process, enabling consistency between each of the thousands of replacement animation faces that were created for the production. The face would have been attached to the head with magnets to allow animators to quickly replace them to capture the desired expression. The interior of the face also features reference numbers that were used to keep track of the different faces during production.

Lightly used in filming and carefully looked after, the piece remains in an excellent production-used condition, with the face measuring 10 cm x 6cm x 6 cm (4" x 2 ½" x 2 ½”) on its display stand.
