A Prototype Gottlieb (Burn Gorman) Cane from Guillermo Del Toro’s 2013 mega monster movie Pacific Rim. In the film, a race of monsters, called ‘Kaiju,’ terrorize earth, so humans build a team of massive man-operated robots, called ‘Jaegers,’ to battle the monsters and save the world. Gottlieb is one of two scientists who seek to discover a way to defeat the Kaiju. This is a prototype of the cane he uses throughout the film.

The cane is made of wood, lathed with little swells and hollows along the shaft. The handle is crafted to symbolize a Kaiju head with eyes, and an open mouth, with a ball in its mouth. Gottlieb uses a cane throughout the film that has a gold handle. This prototype was created in the early design stages as a possible cane for Gottlieb, but was not ultimately used in the film. This prototype is in good condition. The cane measures 6” x 2” x 36” ( 15 cm x 5 cm x 91 cm).
