Raleigh Becket's (Charlie Hunnam) screen-matched light-up drivesuit on display from Guillermo Del Toro's Pacific Rim. Becket donned his drivesuit when he geared up with Mako Mori (Rinko Kikuchi) to pilot the Gipsy Danger to close the Breach at the end of the film. Pieces of the armor match due to the unique patterning and misalignment of decals.
Pacific Rim earned a worldwide total of $411 million and is considered Del Toro's most commercially successful film. It is considered to be an homage to Japanese media, including animation, giant robot mecha, and kaiju monsters. The drivesuits were designed by Kate Hawley and built by esteemed effects house Legacy Effects, with components of the suit digitally modeled to fit the actor exactly.
This drivesuit consists of a plastic and acrylic helmet with an elastane-blended fabric bodysuit featuring urethane armor and metal components. The helmet is designed for a snug fit, with a detachable magnet closure and LED lights. The neck, codpiece, and back spine piece are all made of rubber, with the latter hiding the zip running down the back. The black Spandex gloves feature circuit details and a top knuckle light. The boots are shoes encased in a urethane shell and the entire body is finished with metallic gray and black paints. The Pan Pacific Defense Corps (PPDC) symbol is embossed on both shoulders. The interior of the driversuit is hand-marked with a tag for "Charlie 1," and "Charlie Hero." An additional "Charlie" in white ink, a "Charlie R" are also present. This suit comes on a custom-made display mannequin and base with a Legacy Effects plaque. This lot underwent sympathetic restoration to mend a rip in the fabric on the back. It exhibits scuffed paint, and weakened support for the mannequin, causing it to lean forward. Dimensions: 21" x 31" x 74" (53.5 cm x 79 cm x 188 cm)
