Josey Wales' (Clint Eastwood) stunt Colt Walker 1847 revolver with a matching serial number from Eastwood's The Outlaw Josey Wales. Wales wielded dual Colt Walker 1847s as his signature sidearms throughout the film, drawing them on multiple occasions while he hunted the men who killed his family, including the climactic finale shoot-out with Captain Terrill (Bill McKinney).
To promote the film, artwork depicting a snarling Josey wielding his dual Colts was used in posters and flyers distributed internationally. Consequently, the film was heralded as a revitalization of the then-bygone Western instantly upon release, earning an Academy Award® nomination and later permanent preservation in the Library of Congress' National Film Registry. Surviving props from this modern classic are today considered extremely scarce.
Originating from the collection of renowned Hollywood weapons specialist and prop master Mike Papac, this stunt revolver is molded from dense rubber - which reflects its age and is more crude than modern stunt weapons - from one of Josey's real-world Colts. It features the maker's details and the date "1847" stamped on each side, while the serial number, "954." is also visible in the casting; the same serial number is seen on the underside of one of the firing Walkers in a production still of Eastwood.
The weapon is painted silver-color and textured to appear metallic and etched. It exhibits some discoloration on the grip, adhesive residue on the trigger, and separation around the barrel, from production use and age. Dimensions: 16" x 7" x 2.5" (40.75 cm x 18 cm x 6.5 cm)
Ownership may be restricted in some countries; see replica firearm notice in Buyer's Guide.
Estimate: $5,000 - 10,000
Mike Papac is among Hollywood's most respected armourers. Active in the film industry since the late 1970s, he served as weapons specialist on action classics including Lethal Weapon and Die Hard, and as property gun master for Predator - all within an 18-month span. By the early 1990s, Papac had become a trusted resource for leading directors such as Tony Scott, Renny Harlin, and Richard Donner, collaborating throughout the decade with stars including Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger. His career has encompassed work as prop master and armourer on some of cinema's most successful franchises, from Iron Man and Man of Steel to acclaimed action comedies like Three Kings and Red. Original hero pieces from the Die Hard films are exceptionally rare, and Propstore is proud to present these examples from Mike Papac's personal collection - offered to the public for the first time.
