Charley Waite's (Kevin Costner) costume from Costner's Western Open Range on a display with a hand-painted costume design. Charley wore his costume throughout the film, donning his jacket in the evenings or during bad weather.
Designed by John Bloomfield, the costume comprises a brown herringbone woollen jacket; a faded salmon long-sleeved undershirt; a rough khaki canvas shirt with a button-up panel and chest pocket; a pair of mustard-brown canvas trousers with light brown leather bracers; and a pair of rust-coloured leather chaps with a matching belt and a bullet hole in the front and back of the right leg, with stage blood applied, indicating these chaps were made for the final sequence after Charley was shot through the leg during the gun fight against Baxter (Michael Gambon) and his men. Also included is a light brown felt hat; a cream neckerchief; a pair of yellow leather gloves featuring "Charlie Hero 3" handwritten in each; a faded red paisley print handkerchief; and a pair of brown leather boots.
The costume has been intentionally distressed to appear well-worn and muddied, and exhibits further wear, dirt marks and scuffing from production use. It comes presented on a custom display featuring the film's title, along with the character and actor's name displayed on the base.
Accompanying the costume is a framed, hand-drawn and painted watercolour illustration of Costner as Charley, which has been signed and dated by Bloomfield. Dimensions (framed illustration): 57.5 cm x 45.5 cm x 2.5 cm (22 3/4" x 18" x 1")
