A script, crew t-shirt, and sets of continuity polaroids from the production of ‘The Jolly Boys’ Outing’, the 1989 Only Fools and Horses Christmas special.

The regulars at The Nag’s Head pub head to Margate for a fun – and eventful – day at the seaside.

This collection, once belonging to noted British costume designer Colin Lavers, features a bound script, crew t-shirt and continuity photos from the set of the episode. Many of the continuity shots are from the scene in which the group’s coach blows up after the cassette player catches fire, and feature the lead actors David Jason (Del Boy), Nicholas Lyndhurst (Rodney) and Buster Merryfield (Uncle Albert). Some of the photos are accompanied with a list of the clothes that the character should be wearing.

The script, listed as a ‘Rehearsal Script’, is 253 pages long, including the title page, lists of cast and crew, and scene orders. It is ring bound with a transparent plastic cover. The t-shirt is a white polo neck with no sizing label. ‘The Jolly Boys Outing, Peckham/Margate ’89, Only Fools & Horses’ is printed in red on the left breast pocket.

The set shows some wear from production use and age. The t-shirt has some minor staining on the front; the script has some staining on the pages and some of the pages have come unhooked from the binding in some places; the continuity photos have some creasing and staining. Considering the age of the pieces they remain in an excellent condition.
