"Uccidimi subito Ringo, Disse il Gringo" A wilding-style poster created for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, featuring Rick Dalton, the fading actor portrayed by Leonardo DiCaprio. Tarantino brought legendary Italian poster artist Renato Casaro out of retirement to contribute to the film's immersive set design, creating a series of authentic-looking vintage posters for Dalton's fictional filmography. The composition of this piece is a self-homage by Casaro to his iconic design for They Call Me Trinity, echoing the bold, painterly style of classic Spaghetti Western advertising. Translated from Italian, the faux title reads "Kill Me Now Ringo, Said the Gringo". Wilding posters such as this were pasted in public spaces-on building sites, hoardings, and city walls-to generate hype in the buildup to the film's release. Quentin Tarantino's ninth film serves as a richly textured love letter to Hollywood's golden age, set against the backdrop of 1969 Los Angeles at the height of cultural and industry change. Blending fact with fiction in typical Tarantino fashion, the film follows Dalton and his stunt double, Cliff Booth, as they navigate a shifting film landscape, culminating in a revisionist take on the Tate murders.
