Keith Jennings' (David Warner) special effects severed head from Richard Donner's horror The Omen. Jennings was decapitated by a sheet of glass in an iconic scene, an event that finally convinced Robert Thorn (Gregory Peck) that his son Damien (Harvey Spencer Stephens) was the Antichrist. The scene features one of the most famous and original deaths in horror movie history, with Warner's slowly spinning head becoming a benchmark for horror filmmakers for years to come.
Designed and created by legendary make-up artist Stuart Freeborn, the head is made of fibreglass with a wire armature and resin core. Faux hair is applied to the front of the head, which features faux sideburns, eyebrows and eyelashes. The head has been hand painted to look skin coloured, and stage-blood-soaked cotton wool is stuffed into the neck wound. "David Warner" is handwritten in black pen across the back of the head. Freeborn himself wrote this, to remind himself when he had visitors to his home.
The head shows wear from production use and age. The main bulk of the hair is no longer present and the ears have come away. The skin has become discoloured in places, and there are remnants of the adhesive tape used to attach the wig around the back of the head where the wig was attached. There are minor cracks in the fibreglass, most notably around the neck, and there are several small metal wires protruding from within. The head comes with a protective metal carrying case and the lot is accompanied by a Japanese brochure about the film, which features a large still of the head in action. Dimensions: 24 cm x 16 cm x 24 cm (9 1/2" x 6 1/4" x 9 1/2")
