A sonic blue Fender Jazz bass guitar used and owned by Noel Gallagher during his time in Oasis. This guitar was originally obtained from Gallagher's personal collection and was played both on stage and in the studio. Andy Bell used this bass in 1999 and 2000 during the Standing on the Shoulder of Giants world tour. Bell notably used this particular model during Oasis' performance at Feastival in Philadelphia on 3 December 1999, his first gig with the band. It can also be seen in the Standing on the Shoulder of Giants Tour programme, including a page showing the instruments or equipment used by each band member. An image of Bell playing the blue bass also appears in the booklet for the Maximum Oasis: The Unauthorised Biography CD.
This Fender Jazz bass guitar was made in the US circa 1996-97, and comprises a sonic-blue-finish alder body with a white pickguard and two vintage-style pickups. The maple neck features a fretboard with dot inlays. Its serial number, "N6157409", is printed on the back of the headstock, which is autographed in black ink by Gallagher.
The guitar comes with a Fender protective case that features a piece of tape with handwritten text reading "Fender Jazz Bass, Where's The Phone". Attached to the case handle is a "Hotel Principe Di Savoia" luggage tag with the number "822" handwritten at the bottom, which could refer to a room number. Completing the lot is a copy of the Standing on the Shoulder of Giants tour programme and a Maximum Oasis: The Unauthorised Biography CD. There are minor marks around the edges of the body, with signs of marks and scratches on the hardware. The case exterior displays light scuffing and general grime from use. Dimensions (guitar): 118 cm x 35 cm x 8 cm (46.5" x 13.75" x 3.25"); (case): 124 cm x 42 cm x 13.5 cm (48.75" x 16.5" x 5.25")
