Three vintage one-off silver gelatin photographic prints showing Noel and Liam Gallagher taken by photographer Jill Furmanovsky. The images were taken during the video shoot for Oasis' hugely successful hit "Wonderwall", which was filmed at a London warehouse in September 1995. This lot is part of the Rockarchive Collection.
The set of three vintage silver gelatin prints includes two images of Liam Gallagher and one image of Noel and Liam Gallagher together. Each is a rare one-off print produced at the time for the music press. The back of all three prints is signed by Furmanovsky in black ink and labelled "Vintage Print". "Liam Gallagher, Wonderwall Video Shoot 29/9/95" is handwritten on the back of the close-up of Liam. The other image of Liam features "Wonderwall, Sheet 125365-H.2" written on the front and "Liam Gallagher, 29/9/95" inscribed on the back. The words "approved" and "spare print" are handwritten in black ink on the front. There are pinholes present on one image. Dimensions (each): 30 cm x 21 cm (11.75" x 8.25")
Jill Furmanovsky recalls:
"These are a set of silver gelatin resin-coated prints which was what was used to give to the music press in the 1990s, before everything went digital.
All three images were taken during the making of the video for Wonderwall. The exterior shots were taken around the location where the Wonderwall video was shot. There is a huge amount of downtime when making videos, so it was quite a good distraction for the band just come out with me and do a few shots. The one of Liam on his own, where you can see the lights in his eyes, that's where he was sitting in the chair singing the song."
