A limousine protestor's Richard Nixon mask from Oliver Stone's Nixon. Anti-war protestors, including one wearing an exaggerated mask of President Nixon, besieged the real Nixon's (Anthony Hopkins) limousine.
Based on a real-world encounter between Nixon and anti-war protestors at the Lincoln Memorial, the limousine sequence was designed to heighten Nixon's sense of claustrophobia and persecution prior to his infamous resignation. The film ultimately received four Academy Award® nominations, including for Best Actor for Hopkins and the Best Original Screenplay for Stone, Stephen J. Rivele, and Christopher Wilkinson.
This mask originates from Planet Hollywood. Made of rubber latex, it features a high-cut neck and space for the wearer's ears to stick out. The mask shows evidence of wear consistent with on-set use, handling, and age, including an incomplete cut on the mouth and denting on the nose.
