A Freddy Krueger (Jackie Earle Haley) razor-claw glove built from original components from the production of Samuel Bayer's A Nightmare on Elm Street on a replica display of Krueger's hand. Krueger wore his signature glove throughout the film as he terrorized the local Springwood teenagers in their sleep by killing them one by one. He first appeared to Dean Russell (Kellan Lutz) in a dream and cut his throat, forcing Dean to cut his own throat in front of his friends in real life.
A remake of Wes Craven's original 1984 film, A Nightmare on Elm Street grossed over $117 million worldwide despite negative reviews. It was intended to bring back the original darker characterization of Freddy Krueger as the character had become well-known for his one-line quips. The film won a People's Choice Award® and a Fangoria Chainsaw Award® in 2011, and remains the highest-grossing Freddy Krueger film of all time.
This bladed leather gardening glove with steel and copper attachments was created by effects artist and master glove builder Joe D. Mack as a design template for a run of limited-edition replicas. Following production, it was constructed from original production components made for filming but ultimately unseen in the final cut. Only two template gloves were ever created.
The blades on this glove feature notable solder markings at the point of attachment and the metal cuff around the wrist is engraved "Template No. 2 Joe D. Mack" on the inner wrist. The glove is intentionally distressed to appear aged, covered in grime, and stained with blood. It is fitted onto a custom-made display with replicas of Krueger's hand and signature red-and-green striped sweater sleeve. This lot exhibits chipped paint and pitting on the blades. Dimensions: (displayed) 10.5" x 10.5" x 17.5" (26.75 cm x 26.75 cm x 44.5 cm)
Blade was dulled by production.
Estimate: $5,000 - 10,000
