A "Baphomet" concept illustration hand-painted by Clive Barker for the production of Barker's fantasy horror Nightbreed.

Baphomet (Bernard Henry) was the demon deity of the monstrous outcasts known as the Nightbreed. This piece was created by Barker himself during pre-production in 1989. Barker and make-up effects designer Geoffrey Portass had been struggling with the design, when one morning Barker ran into the workshop at Pinewood Studios claiming he had dreamt Baphomet the night before. He was given several A1 sheets, some acrylic paints, and a set of large brushes, and came up with this design, with Portass providing some finishing touches.

The lot is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Portass. The artwork has some wear around the edges and minor creasing, but overall remains in excellent condition.
