"They Won't Stay Dead!" is the iconic tagline featured on this one sheet from the classic zombie horror thriller. This example has been professionally linen-backed, with touch-ups at the crossfolds to address wear. There are some sporadic creases and small tears that have been repaired, and the borders have been airbrushed to fix pinholes, edge wear, and separation at the end of the folds.

"Night of the Living Dead" is an independent horror film directed, shot and edited by George A. Romero, who co-wrote the screenplay with John Russo and stars Duane Jones and Judith O'Dea. The plot centers on seven people taking refuge in a rural Pennsylvania farmhouse as they are besieged by flesh-eating reanimated corpses. While the creatures in the film are referred to as "ghouls," the movie is widely recognized for shaping the modern depiction of zombies in popular culture. "Night of the Living Dead" launched a successful franchise, spawning five sequels between 1978 and 2009-all directed by Romero. Because of a copyright error in the film's original title, it entered the public domain upon release, leading to a wide range of adaptations, remakes and a lasting impact on the horror genre. An official remake, written by Romero and directed by Tom Savini, was released in 1990.
