A large Harvester countdown sign from the production of Duncan Jones’ 2009 sci-fi mystery film Moon.
Astronaut Sam Bell (Sam Rockwell) is working alone on the Moon, mining it for resources to be sent back to Earth. Then after an accident occurs, he discovers that he is no longer alone: astronaut Sam Bell (Sam Rockwell) is now there as well.
This countdown sign and others like it were made for the production and can be seen around Sam’s Moon base. They track the status of the ‘Harvesters’ – Matthew, Mark, Luke and John – the large machines that do the mining and Sam tends to.
The sign, made by the fictional ‘Lunar Industries Ltd’, currently reads that two of the Harvesters are offline and the other two are currently loading. While these are fixed on this item, during the film they change and move through the magic of digital effects.
Made predominantly of wood and plastic, the piece shows some wear from production use, storage and age. There are scuffs and scratches across the piece, but despite this the piece is in an excellent condition.
