Biggus Dickus' (Graham Chapman) screen-matched cuirass from Terry Jones' Biblical comedy Monty Python's Life of Brian. A Roman nobleman and close friend of Pontius Pilate (Michael Palin), Biggus Dickus caused much hilarity for the denizens of Judea because of his speech impediment. This cuirass matches the one seen on screen through notable creases and cracks on the chest around the central insignia.

Life of Brian was Monty Python's most significant commercial and critical success, despite being banned in several countries due to accusations of blasphemy.

The leather cuirass comprises two pieces of leather connected by buckled straps at the midriff and shoulders. It has an interior label from Costumi d'Arte Peruzzi, and another label with "Peruzzi" handwritten in ink. The cuirass is decorated with various metal and leather adornments.

Additional Provenance: This lot comes from the archives of the famed Italian costume company Costumi d'Arte. The company has been supplying some of the biggest film productions in the world with costumes for over 100 years.
