Edwin Layton’s (Patrick Wilson) costume from Roland Emmerich’s 2019 war film Midway.

The film tells the story of the Battle of Midway, in which the Japanese pressed on their assault against the USA after their success during Pearl Harbor.

Layton wore his costume at the beginning of the film, during his time in Tokyo. This costume consists of a long over coat, a suit jacket, trousers, a shirt and a pair of leather gloves. The overcoat has metal buttons and a handwritten label inside the left shoulder which says ‘Layton’. The suit jacket has a handwritten label in a similar position which reads ‘2 Layton’. The shirt, trousers and gloves are unlabelled. As the costume was made specially for Wilson, most of the close have no size labelling, other than the gloves which are an ‘M’.

The costume has some scuffing wear from production use but remains in an otherwise excellent condition.
