A production cel setup featuring Mickey Mouse and Scrooge McDuck from Walt Disney's festive short film Mickey's Christmas Carol.
The 1983 animated short marked Mickey Mouse's return to theatrical screens after a 30-year hiatus. A wonderfully atmospheric piece from one of Disney's most beloved festive shorts and a fine example of how character and storytelling can be captured in a single frame.
This setup features three original hand-painted production cels showing Mickey Mouse as Bob Cratchit, Scrooge McDuck as Ebenezer Scrooge peering through the door, and the door itself rendered on its own cel layer. These are placed over a hand-painted presentation background created in the style of the scene, offering a rich and nostalgic recreation of this holiday favourite.
Originally sold through official Disney art programs, the cel has been laminated, a preservation method used in the 1970s and 1980s believed at the time to protect the paint. It bears the classic circular Walt Disney seal reading "Original Hand Painted Movie Film Cel," confirming its release through Disney's authorised collector programme. There is some lamination separation around the edges of the characters, typical of these vintage releases, but the setup remains in great condition, considering its age.
