A white fedora worn on stage by Michael Jackson during the worldwide tour for his seventh studio album Bad. The Bad World Tour marked Jackson's first solo global tour, comprising 123 shows across 15 countries between September 1987 and January 1989.

The white fedora became synonymous with Jackson's performance of "Smooth Criminal". It most famously featured in the song's music video and was worn during live renditions throughout the tour. This example was gifted by Jackson to UNICEF Executive Director James P. Grant in 1990.

Made by the Golden Gate Hat Company, this white woollen fedora is finished with a black grosgrain ribbon and marked size Medium. The internal leather sweatband is stamped with the maker's name and "Michael Jackson" in gold-coloured lettering. The number "7" is handwritten on the interior in blue ink, now faded and lightly smudged. The exterior and lining display stage-use makeup residue, and the sweatband shows wear consistent with performance use.

The lot is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from MJJ Productions, signed by administrative assistant Rosemary Chavira and dated "October 15, 1990", together with a promotional photograph of Jackson from the Bad era.
