Michael Jackson's black fedora from Pepsi's iconic 1987 television commercial "The Chase". Filmed shortly after the release of Jackson's hit single "Bad", the multi-part advertisement features a remix of the song and depicts Jackson performing on stage while wearing his signature fedora, before attempting to leave an arena while being pursued by paparazzi and fans. The high-energy commercial included dramatic action sequences, such as a ski jump, and a memorable scene in which a boy sneaks into Jackson's dressing room, tries on his fedora and jacket, and imitates his dance moves.

This fedora was jointly gifted by Michael Jackson and Pepsi to Sam Bishop as a gesture of thanks for his support of the Michael Jackson UNCF Endowed Scholarship Fund.

Made by the Dorfman Pacific Company, the black woollen fedora features a black grosgrain ribbon and is marked size "7 3/8." The white lining displays the maker's name, while the internal leather sweatband is stamped with the company name and "Michael Jackson" in gold-coloured text. An additional paper label adhered to the interior bears the Pepsi logo and reads "MJJ Promotional Photo Opp 1/1". The lining exhibits some marks and light staining consistent with age and use.

The lot is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Pepsi-Cola, dated 8 March 1988 and signed by President and CEO Roger Enrico; an autographed promotional image of Michael Jackson from the Bad Tour; an autographed promotional headshot of Roger Enrico; and an additional Michael Jackson "Pepsi & You" promotional image.
