A "Marilyn Monroe in Black Dior Dress" pigment print by photographer Bert Stern. Stern was born in New York City and worked as the art director for Mayfair magazine. During a long and illustrious career he photographed many iconic celebrities, including Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, Madonna and Kylie Minogue.
This archival pigment print shows Monroe posing in a black Dior dress, and was taken as part of Stern's series "The Last Sitting", created for Vogue in 1962. The photoshoot - which took place over three days at the Bel Air Hotel in Los Angeles, just six weeks before Monroe's passing - resulted in 2,500 photographs of Monroe.
Stern has signed and numbered the print ("15/72") in white crayon, along with the inscription "Marilyn." He has also included his signature and copyright (2011) in red crayon and applied his official stamp. Dimensions (framed): 77 cm x 68 cm x 3 cm (30.5" x 26.75" x 1.25")
