The Hero Iron Mask from Randall Wallace's 1998 adaptation of the Alexandre Dumas novel, The Man in the Iron Mask. Picking up decades after The Three Musketeers, the film follows Athos (John Malkovich), Porthos (Gérard Depardieu), and Aramis (Jeremy Irons) as they plot to replace the evil King Louis XIV (Leonardo DiCaprio) with his imprisoned twin brother Philippe (also DiCaprio). This mask can be screen matched as the piece constructed on screen and set in fire.
Cast in metal, presumably iron, the mask varies slightly from the version worn onscreen by DiCaprio, and has a unique shape around the bottom lip. The cage that holds the mask can also be screen matched due to sight specific dents that were ultimately cast into the lightweight version worn by DiCaprio. The cage is hinged at the sides and has two rings that connect at the back, allowing for a lock to be attached.
This piece shows some wear due to production use and age, however it remains in overall very good condition.
