Love Actually

Mark's (Andrew Lincoln) Best Man Speech Cards

Stock #75385

“When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know, none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around.”

Mark’s (Andrew Lincoln) best man speech cards from Richard Curtis’ 2003 romantic comedy Love Actually.

The film explores the different kinds of love by interweaving the events of a group of Londoners’ lives one fateful Christmas season.

Mark is Peter’s (Chiwetel Ejiofor) best man and is secretly in love with his new bride Juliet (Kiera Knightley). This set of best man speech cards are handwritten in black pen on lined card. They feature bullet point notes for the speech and include interesting details such as where and how Peter proposed to Juliet. There are also fun details such as joke ideas, comments about the bridesmaids and Mark’s obvious disdain about having to make a best man’s speech. There are two occasions where character’s names are crossed out in favour of the final name. For example, Ejiofor’s character seems to have originally been called Steve instead of Peter. The cards are written on the front and reverse and some are numbered. There is even a doodle of a man with an open mouth and a pint glass full of beer on page 5.

Although these cards are not seen in the final cut of the film, they make a fun and charming collector’s piece for any fan of the film. Made from 5 pieces of lined card and held together by a metal paper clip, these speech cards remain in excellent condition.

Materials: Card, Ferrous Metal.
