An autographed Gimli (John Rhys-Davies) replica axe display from the promotion of Peter Jackson’s 2001 adventure fantasy film The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. A meek Hobbit from the Shire and eight companions set out on a journey to destroy the powerful One Ring and save Middle-earth from the Dark Lord Sauron.
Gimli used his axe throughout the films as he defended the party alongside Aragorn (Viggo Mortensen) and Legolas (Orlando Bloom). Replica weapons were made in limited quantities as collector’s items to promote the film. The axe is metal and wood with Nordic style etchings on the blade, there is an autographed still of Gimli with the axe in the top right of the display and a laser etched plaque with the edition number “1/10” above the axe. The axe comes in a bespoke display with a silver painted wood frame protective acrylic pane, the frame is sealed with tape and glue. The item comes with a COA pertaining to the validity of the autograph. The frame shows light paint wear, the item remains in an otherwise excellent condition.
