A wooden chest used in the epic adventure film Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. Tasked with the destruction of the One Ring by the wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellen), the young hobbit Frodo (Elijah Wood) heads off for Mordor, followed by a band of warriors dedicated to destroying the ring and bringing about the destruction of the evil Lord Sauron.
This chest was used by the hobbit Bilbo Baggins (Ian Holm), and took pride of place on his mantelpiece over the fire in his home in Bag End. Made of dark wood, the chest has been made with metal bands to bind it together. Faux hinges and a non-functioning latch are present at the front and rear to give the illusion of it being a functional piece of homeware, with the entire piece finished in dark wood washes, with iron, silver and brass-coloured paints used for the metalwork.

Displaying some minor wear from its time in use in The Fellowship of the Ring, the chest remains in very good production-used condition.
