The original "Endgame on the Mountain" artwork, hand-painted by Canadian illustrator Ted Nasmith, accompanied by a limited edition print of his "Riders at the Ford", both created for The Lord of the Rings franchise.
"Endgame on the Mountain" depicts Sam carrying Frodo up Mount Doom as Gollum hovers ominously above, moments away from attacking the hobbits. Though created in 2002, the image first appeared in the June 2004 Tolkien Calendar, published by HarperCollins. This original work is hand-painted in gouache on an illustration board, which is mounted to a card border. Nasmith has signed and dated the piece "02" by with paint.
"Riders at the Ford" depicts Lord Glorfindel rescuing Frodo from the Nazgul, rendered in 1990 by Ted Nasmith. The image first appeared in the February 1990 Tolkien Calendar, published by HarperCollins, and was later used on the cover of certain editions of The Fellowship of the Ring. With pencil, this print is signed by the artist, inscribed "Riders at the Ford" and numbered "34/350." Dimensions (print): 55.5 cm x 40 cm (21.75" x 15.75")
