Warner Bros. superstar Bette Davis shoots a man in cold blood on this lobby card from director William Wyler's classic film noir crime drama from Warner Bros. Printed on a beautiful linen-finish stock (which has darkened with age in parts of the borders), this example shows only occasional small stains along the left and lower borders, with the rest of the card in excellent condition. This card depicts the film's key scene that advances the plot.
The first scene William Wyler shot was the iconic opening in which Leslie (Bette Davis) kills Geoffrey Hammond (David Newell). Though it appears on screen for just two minutes, the sequence required an entire day to film-before any dialogue was even spoken. The studio had anticipated a pace of three to four script pages per day, yet that elaborate opening represented only a single paragraph on page one.
